Really Good Oatmeal Cookies + Bon Appétit's Ali Francis!
Granola Butter, Lots of Ali(s), many, many plants, and lots more!
This week, I’m sharing my fam’s favorite Oatmeal Cookie recipe and a Freak My Week roundup with writer / journalist Ali Francis!
Before you get to it…
Wanted to share that I’m having a plant sale with The Gardeners Green in Charleston, SC, on October 10th at Park & Grove from 6-8pm!
I shared a few months ago about how Joan (founder of TGG) has been mentoring me on everything gardening, including propagating plants / growing from seed - and I’ve been helping her launch her brand.
We’ve been working hard together to create 400+ plants for our first plant sale! We’ll have the plants available below and a whole design plan you can follow to create your own magical cottage garden (if you don’t have a yard, the design can work in containers / planters).
If you’re in Charleston, come on by (and spread the word!).
This week’s newsletter is for paid subscribers (thank you so much for supporting this work!). But each month I send out a freebie newsletter, so stick around if you don’t want a subscription, you’ll still get lots of fun stuff.
As always, if you want a subscription, but it’s not in the budget, message me and we’ll make it happen.
Go get the goodies below!
Love,
Jessica
The Things That Freaked My Week with Ali Francis
Our guest: Ali Francis is an Australian journalist living in Salt Lake City. She’s currently a staff writer at Bon Appétit, where she reports on vegetarian culture, internet nonsense, and the odd ways we eat. Her freelance work has also appeared in The Cut, The Atlantic, the BBC, and more. When she’s not foraging in the fridge for a snack, you can find her surfing, snowboarding, and speaking pretty terrible Italian.
On a personal level: Ali and I met (and became friends) when she wrote a piece about Know Your Endo on Bon Appétit when it came out. It was hard getting any book press at that time (deep in the pandemic), and I’m forever grateful for the support she gave the book - and for just being the amazing person she is.
Here’s Ali’s picks:
Oat Haus Granola Butter
My biggest internet crush Ali Bonar started a brand that turns granola into butter. Literally not a day goes by without me scooping it straight out of the jar. I’m obsessed with the Birthday Cake flavor (it’s seriously like vanilla cake batter with sprinkles), but I also can’t wait to try the new Red Velvet.
