Leaving My House + Cookbook Season
Disappearing icons, actually innovative design, and a wow sculpture
Hello!
I got covid for the first time and it’s been not-so-cool. It hit me pretty hard and I’ve missed work and school for the last two weeks. My brain is getting back to normal and I wanted to pop-in to share a couple of things…
I WILL BE BETTER next week and finally leaving my house for a Know Your Endo book signing to celebrate Amor Kitchen’s new retail space on Saturday, September 28th in Charleston! My friend Will Bulsiewicz (aka Dr. B, The Gut Health, MD) will be there signing books with me. So come for the NYT’s Best Selling author (him) and stay to gossip and eat treats with someone who really wants to hang out with people again (me). It’s free to attend and kids are welcome. I really hope to see you there! Invite below.
It’s officially Fall cookbook season! I’ve been getting some press releases about some amazing new cookbooks (and reached out to authors I know you love). I have some great recipes coming your way - including one from Nisha Vora and Julia Turshen’s latest. Let me know if you have your eye on any cookbooks you want to see a recipe from and I’ll try to make it happen.
In the meantime - a mini Freak My Week for all (below) and paid subscribers, your big monthly Freak My Week roundup is coming out next week (I’ve collected lots of fun things for you).
Love,
Jessica
The Things That Freaked My Week
Some things I’m currently into…
Myth Magazine
I haven’t seen something this creative and innovative in a very long time. In a sea-of-sameness on social media/media in general, this magazine truly has a unique point of view that will be hard to replicate (a good thing).
*Click through the first ten pages to get to the mag. Just give them your email…it’s worth it. I suggest viewing it on a desktop.
The Disappearance of Shere Hite
Discovered this documentary on Hulu and not sure how I didn’t know Shere’s story. It’s maddening and inspiring all at once.
The Chrysanthemum Is No Longer Just for Grocery Store Bouquets via T Magazine
The floral sculpture by Louis-Géraud Castor captured in this piece is unreal. Lots of good clicks in this one.
The Journey To Nature With Cassandra Bickman via Cap Beauty
Part of me wants this life and the other part of me gets nervous about a jaguar in my living room. Regardless, this has me dreaming about living in more nature / seclusion…
MY EVENT! Come on by!
And some books by me:
One Part Plant: A Guide to Eating Real One Meal At a Time
Know Your Endo: An Empowering Guide To Health + Hope With Endometriosis
I know you love caftans. So do it.
I've found some great patterns for some beautiful, yet very easy to make caftans that I've been wearing all summer. I bet you know someone who would sew one or two for you. Check it out
