This is the free edition of the newsletter. Last week, in the paid version, I shared a recipe from Veggie Burgers Every Which Way and a Freak Your Week with author and all-around-amazing human Michael Ventura. You can upgrade to a paid subscription here. Becoming a paid subscriber supports my work and means I never have to do Instagram sponsored-content ever again…which is a win for everyone.
Alright, July goodies below!

The Things That Freaked My Week
mattina moderna’s “La Petite Boîte” Collection
I love the new lamp collection from this French mother-daughter duo. Three different designs covered with deadstock fabric. I want them all!
Claim To Fame
I squealed when I saw that Claim To Fame had a season two! I sort of thought I was the only one watching it (could not get any of my friends in on this show). Every contestant who lives in the Claim To Fame house is related to a celebrity, and it’s up to the house to figure out what celeb. There are challenges, clues, and lots of game play. It’s sort of The Mole and The Trader-ish, but a little cheesier and hosted by a famous and not-famous Jonas Brothers. Which might not be a sell…but it’s just great. Try it!
Gardenheir Watering Cans
I don’t need a $150 watering can, and I probably won’t buy it. But I really, really want it. The lines and forms on these are perfection.
Who Shat On The Floor At My Wedding
As someone who loves true crime but doesn’t like listening to true crime podcasts about violent acts / murder…the pickings are a little slim. So, I was so happy when my friend Al sent this true crime podcast my way! Someone really did sh*t on the floor at a couple’s wedding, and they want to find out who. The hosts and their “detective” friend are super witty and endearing. A fun listen.
Cosmic Peace Studio’s Vases
I love everything Rose does at Cosmic Peace, from her totes to her forever flowers. And she’s done it again with this new collection of hand painted vases. Love the Turtle Power Stripe and the Marbled Bud Vases.
The Gardeners Green!
Back in March, I shared that I wrote a stranger (a neighbor I did not know) a note, asking her if she would help me with my yard. I had stalked her cottage garden for years and finally just decided to just ask. That neighbor, Joan, and I hit it off and made a deal: she would teach me everything she knew about gardening, and I would help her launch her new business (by way of writing and branding and lots of cheering on).
This week, Joan’s site, The Gardeners Green, launched!* Joan has been gardening and in garden-community roles for the past twenty-fives years, but this is the first time she’s had a brand of her own where she can bring all her wisdom online - and it’s so exciting!
Now that the site has launched, our partnership isn’t going to end. I’m coming into her business as a brand advisor and helping Joan grow all the plants (over 600!) for The Gardeners Green’s first-ever plant sale in the Fall.
Working with Joan has changed my life in so many ways. Digging, planting, and learning how to propagate and grow by seed with her has been so healing. And I swear, it has changed my brain. I can’t wait to see her help so many others, too.
Check out the site (sign up for the newsletter!) and follow her on IG here!
*The Gardeners Green site design was done by Highly Necessary - and Heather Crosby created the logo, illustrations, and the brand palette. Cannot recommended working with them more!
