Hey, hey!
I’m feeling really excited about a new year for this newsletter. We have so many good guests and recipes coming your way in the next few months!
Some things happening since I last wrote you…
• Celebrating my birthday today - and as a new annual tradition, going to plot, plan, and buy seeds for my Spring garden (instead of my usual birthday goal-setting…which, in the past years, has felt more stressful than fun).
• Still feeling betrayed by my ex-queen, O. The timing of it all just feels ick. Jennifer Weiner captured so many of my thoughts.
• Went to Columbus, Ohio to celebrate the holidays with my family, and that city really has the best plant-based food. Some faves: 2 Dollar Radio and Woodhouse (really want to try Comune next visit).
• I recently had a chance to eat a bunch of Ital food and found the origins of it really fascinating (this diet was happening long before America’s plant-based movement).
• And finally, I was shook, shocked, and in awe of the RHOSLC finale. The editing was perfection and truly one of the best episodes ever aired. Did you watch?!
Alright, got my roundup below!
For paid subscribers, you’ve got a noodle recipe and a very sweet guest coming your way in a couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone who re-upped their subscriptions!
Love,

The Things That Freaked My Week
Some things I’m currently into…
Maison Flâneur
I had a hard time choosing an image for this one, because I want everything on the site. The lamps! The vases! The tableware! Shipping is a little pricey because it’s coming from France…so if you get the pearl forks (I want!), add a couple sale items to make it worth it.
Your Fat Friend
While I have issues with her podcast, I do really love Aubrey Gordon’s writing and point of view on diet culture and being fat in America. This documentary about her is on my list to watch – the trailer really got me and feels even more important than ever.
Plantgem or Grand Prismatic Dye Plants(?!)
I want all of Plantgem’s dahlias this year…but thinking that my birthday present to myself will be their plant dye kit OR grow my own dye plants from Grand Prismatic seeds. Either way, I have lots of yellow-tinted things from my marigold dying-spree last summer and def need some new colors in the mix.
Food Trends of 2024 via NYT
“I’m not interested in the next viral chickle or what will replace almond moms and girl dinners. Instead, I study small cultural, media and economic data points and watch the trend emerge.”
I’m passing on the meal-flavored cocktails, but here for the snacks and florals. Also drinking water and eating soup? Not so sure these are trends, but glad to see these basics in the mix.
