How To Pomegranate + Food Heaven's Jessica Jones
Plus natural hair coloring wax, all things Savage x Fenty, and a surprising sofa!
Before we get to it, a couple things…
On January 26th, I am hosting a screening of the documentary Below The Belt at The Charleston Library Society. After the screening, I’ll be in conversation with the director and producer of the film, Shannon Cohn, and am doing a book signing of Know Your Endo. The film originally premiered at the MOMA in NYC, with Hillary Clinton introducing it…so it feels pretty special to get to share this important film at one of my favorite places in my hometown! You can buy tickets here and watch the trailer here.
I am working with the design and innovation firm Jack Strategy on a really exciting research project. We’re looking for 8-14 year olds in Los Angeles who are willing to share their insights and opinions about gaming and online games (and are compensating kids chosen for the interviews). If you’re a parent in LA or know any with kids in this age range, please check out the details and pass along!
This week, I’m sharing how to get de-seed a pomegranate without staining everything around you - and a Things That Freaked My Week with author and co-founder of the Food Heaven empire, Jessica Jones.
I love pomegranate seeds so much, but really hate buying a tiny little container of them for $6. De-seeding them on your own is super easy, way less expensive, and weirdly meditative. And after they’re out - I love throwing them on top of peanut butter toast/rice cakes, oatmeal, and yogurt. Now to the de-seeding…
There are four types of pomegranate de-seeders:
The people who swear by the tapping method and are cool with whatever way you decide to de-seed your pomegranate.
The people who swear by the tapping method and get annoyed/riled up in the comments when any other method for de-seeding is suggested… “TAPPING IS EASIER” or “You know you can just whack it with the back of the spoon. Lol.”
The people who use the bowl-of-water method.
The people who use some other method I don’t know about.
If you’re a 2, sorry, I’m not showing how to tap it out here. Feel free to skip down! I’m a 3 who was a former 4 (staining everything around me) - and this is my favorite way of getting the seeds out.
