A BRAND NEW Website + Cal Newport Is Back!

Some other things making me happy....

Hi,

I’m so excited to share my new website with you today. No more (now cringe) food photos (I really did try!) or blog posts (I haven’t actually blogged in three years). And it feels like good timing too….

This week officially marks a year of being inside for my family. Being inside this past year has meant a lot of sameness each day…so selfishly, it feels good to have something that feels a little new, even if it’s just on my screen.

Like so many, this past year has made me reevaluate some professional things, like where I should head next with my work and writing. So, I’m not sure what’s ahead for me after my next book comes out…maybe more creative consulting, I hope more speaking (when that can happen again), and I’m still dreaming about a caftan company. I’m still figuring it out. All that’s to say, it felt really good to create this site to summarize where I’ve been…which has weirdly been helping me inch closer to where I’ll being going.

Alright, you can see the new site here.
And then come back for some other fun stuff below.

Love,
Jessica

P.S. Shoutout to my friend Kevin who made my very first site for One Part Plant eight years ago for free, because he believed in what I was doing. I worked with the incredible design duo DUZI for the design of this one, and I cannot recommend them enough.

Cal Newport Is Back!
Episode 170: Email And Communication Overload

Cal and I discuss the overwhelm of email, how the habit of constantly checking can distract from productivity, why we need to create new processes for our inbox, how back-and-forth messaging doesn’t scale, and the number one thing you can do today to lessen your email load.

So much good stuff in this one!!

The Thing That Freaked My Week

The Idea Of You by Robinne Lee

I loved this book. But then I let a friend borrow it, and it came back with a note from her…saying it was one of the worst books she’s ever read. So I asked if she finished it. And she said, “Obviously." So what’s the problem? She said it was like watching the Kardashians. You know it’s bad, but you still enjoy it. SOOOO…IT WAS GOOD?

Because what constitutes a good book? For me it’s one that I want to keep reading and makes me happy. I don’t care if it’s a best-seller or won a fancy literary award or is lauded by critics. Give me something that’s fun to read that I’m excited to finish. This book was that for me. And if you like rom-com/low stakes/fun books, I think you’ll love it too.

Here’s the premise…
Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. But since her divorce, she’s more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle. The last thing Solène expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.

What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate and genuine relationship. It is a journey that spans continents as Solène and Hayes navigate each other’s worlds: from stadium tours to international art fairs to secluded hideaways in Paris and Miami. For Solène, it is a reclaiming of self, as well as a rediscovery of happiness and love. When Solène and Hayes’ romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solène must face how her romantic life has impacted the lives of those she cares about most.

I MEAN, C’MON. Buy it here.

Endo Awareness Month

Was so proud to partner with Sustain for Endometriosis Awareness Month. I provided all the info, and they created this incredible (very shareable) graphic. More to come with them this month over on their Instagram!

Speaking of endo…my next book is coming out next month. I can’t believe it’s finally here! And you pre-ordering it would mean so much to me.

Why does pre-ordering a book matter?*
It gives booksellers and libraries a heads up on the books that are in demand. Which means they’ll order more copies for their shelves. Which means a publisher will put more ad dollars towards its promotion. Which means more people will see it!

*I also have a giant pre-order giveaway happening, too…just saying.

So where can I pre-order?
All of the book buying options are on this page (there is an option for a signed copy), and there are now links to buy in Canada and AU, too!

Not able to pre-order? That’s ok! You can help by calling your library or local bookstore and asking them to stock it. Or you can share about it with your friends, family, and community on social or IRL (send them this link).

See more details about the book and enter the giant pre-order giveaway here!

Still working on a cute footer (which I may or may not ever actually do)…so as a reminder, you can follow my personal/podcast IG here and the Know Your Endo one here.
